WWE has a rich history, featuring some iconic names of professional wrestling. Followed by a distinguished career of three decades at the top, few can rival The Undertaker’s legendary status in the squared circle. Playing a dark persona throughout his career, The Undertaker, aka Mark Calaway, has narrated to wrestling fans a fictional backstory of his character.
On WWE programming, The Deadman repeatedly claimed that he was from the Death Valley, where he buried souls. Unlike other wrestlers, even though he claims to be from Death Valley, he is truly not from there.
Mark William Calaway, who plays the gimmick of The Undertaker on the TV screen, is originally from Houston, Texas. The 59-year-old still resides in the Southern state, cherishing his retirement days after entertaining wrestling fans for thirty years.
Who Lives With The Undertaker In Texas?
The Undertaker, who is about to clock 60, is currently married. The former WWE Champion is currently in a marital relationship with the former WWE star and four-time Divas Champion, Michelle McCool. They are in the fourteenth year of their marriage, having walked down the aisle in 2010 when both were actively WWE Superstars.
The Deadman lives in Texas with his wife at the moment. Apart from his wife, he has two children in his household. Their first child, a daughter, named Kaia, is currently 12 years old, while he also has an adopted son named Kolt.
Meanwhile, it is not the first marriage of The Undertaker. The first time he tied the knot was in 1989, and the marriage lasted a decade. The Undertaker has a son named Gunner Calaway from the first marriage.
Despite maintaining a strong kayfabe, his second marriage was in public once the ex-wife, Sara Frank, was embroiled in storytelling on WWE TV. After having two kids with Sara, they were separated in 2007, meaning his current relationship with Michelle McCool is The Phenom’s longest marriage thus far.
The Undertaker’s Early Life in Texas
The Undertaker was born and brought up in Houston, Texas, being born to Frank and Catherine Calaway. Growing up in the 1970s, the family consisted of five children, including The Undertake himself.
In Undertaker A&E Biography, released in 2022, the man behind The Undertaker character, Mark Calaway, gave a sneak peek into his childhood, sitting in an interview with his mother Catherine.
The Undertaker described, ” I had a pretty normal childhood. People ask me all the time, what led me to this dark path of digging holes and taking souls. My parents are salt of the earth people”.
Praising her beloved mother, The Undertaker added, “My mom was a stay-at-home mom who raised five boys, bless her heart”. Showcasing a picture of his brother with him, he took their names and mentioned that he lost his elder brother, Tim, the day before his last WrestleMania match, which was in 2020.
During her sweet interaction with his mother, The Undertaker asked his mother how he was as a child, to which she replied,
“You were very good”. Besides making his mother acquainted with the fans, he talked about his father, who died in 2003.
He credited his dad for instilling a hardworking nature and ethics in him. His father would do various difficult jobs, such as plumbing or roofing jobs to feed the big family of seven. In addition, he stated that given the popularity of professional wrestling in Houston, he had been a fan of the business from an early age.
Is Kane Is The Real Brother Of The Undertaker?
WWE or professional wrestling world, where the characters emerge from a storytelling and creative point of view. The Undertaker was arguably one of the greatest creations of Vince McMahon and WWE, and the on-screen backstory is compelling.
When the Devil’s Favorite Demon Kane debuted in 1997, interrupting the match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, he was introduced as the half-brother of The Phenom, led by Paul Bearer.
Besides having a sibling feud, the gigantic men also teamed up as a tag team, better known as the Brothers of Destruction. A myriad of fans believed that they were real brothers, given their identical physical build and height.
However, in real life, The Undertaker and Kane are not related by blood, and they are nothing more than kayfabe brothers. As stated before, in real life, The Undertaker has four other elder brothers, and Kane, aka Glen Jacobs, isn’t one of them.
Kane had a distinctively different upbringing and background from The Undertaker. The kayfabe younger brother of the Deadman spent his childhood around St.Louise, Missouri, not in Texas. Moreover, he spent a portion of his childhood in Spain.
They do not have a significant age difference, with Kane being only two years younger than The Undertaker. Two decades back, the kayfabe was so serious that many people seriously believed they were genuine brothers and sons of the manager Paul Bearer from Death Valley.
